The Iowa Series Paste Papers feature original Waveland Studio designs inspired by the Midwest.
What is paste paper?
Paste paper is made by brushing colored paste onto dampened paper and displacing the paste with various tools and found objects to create a pattern or texture. Our original designs incorporate stencil, brush, roller and finger techniques.
Woodland Textures
A guestbook for Iowa’s first lady, resulted in this design. A complex layering of pigments and steciling produced a paper reminiscent of a leafy forest floor, dappled with shots of golden sun.
Field Furrows
This pattern consists of vibrant sienna, green and bronze diagonals. The green is reminiscent of newly sprouted crops. Sienna and bronze represent the earth and sun~growth necessities.
Soybean Foliage
The third design in the Iowa Series was created for a field notebook commisioned for a Phd graduate in soybean entymology. An irridescent green with bronze flecks, this is a truly lovely paper suitable for both covers and end sheets
